Day 3 of my Vitamix Cleanse has come and gone and I successfully made it thru 3 days of juice fasting.  I almost cracked last night……I went to my Vintage 1 class last night at UCLA (I’m getting my Wine Education and Management Certificate), and like we do every week we tasted 6 different wines.  Despite using spit cups, I’d be a liar if I said that there’s wasn’t any stray wine that made it into my belly.  Having not had wine or a any substantial food for the past several days, let me just say that the smallest amount of wine that made it into my system sent my head buzzing.  And with that buzz came the desire to EAT.  I was unbelievable hungry on the way home after sitting in class for 3.5 hours. 

In my mind I justified a million different ways in which it was ok for me to stop to pick something up to grub on.  But in the end, I held out and vowed to get a full 24 hours of juice fasting done on Day 3 to accomplish my goal.  I made it thru, and what a trip this juice cleanse has been!

On the training side yesterday, I managed to swim 2200 yards during lunchtime and actually felt pretty good.  My body is sore though, when it really shouldn’t be.  This definitely is not seeming like a sustainable way of eating if I want to train with any efficiency.  But for the short term, its been awesome.  I feel pretty alive, have definitely dropped some weight (albeit mostly water weight) over the 3 day period, and most importantly the idea of eating anything ‘bad’ right now is totally and completely unappealing.  Hell, I’m feeling guilty for contemplating making some chicken and veggies tonight, so there’s a definitely a mental shift that can happen in a very short amount of time.

I still have quite a few ingredients left from my market run on Sunday, so when I woke up this morning I decided to keep it rolling until I run out (which will be tonight).  I will have almost 4 days of juice fasting under my belt, which is more than I expected to do when I started this experiment.  After today I’ll write up my thoughts on the entire process to sum it all up!

Day 3 went down like this:

Morning Greens

1 Cucumber

Handful of Kale

Handful of Spinach

3 Celery Stalks

1/2 lemon peeled

Small knob of ginger (peeled)

2 Granny Smith Apples

2 Cups Water

Post-Swim Smoothie

5 Strawberries

2 Naval Oranges

1 Handful Sliced Pineapple

1 Small Handfull of Blueberries

1 Handful of Spinach

1 Scoop of Hemp Protein Powder

1 Scoop of Almond Butter

1 Cup of Water

Afternoon Carrot Juice

6 Carrots (Peeled and Chopped)

2 Celery Stalks

Dash of Black Pepper

2 Cups Water

Pre-Class Smoothie

1 Handful of Spinach

1 Banana

5 Strawberries

1 Handfull of Blueberries

1 Handfull of Blackberries

1 Cup of Water
